KOTA KINABALU: A Proton S70 1.5T Executive saloon car will be up for grabs in the Pertubuhan Jaringan Anak Yatim Sabah (PJKAYS) Golf Charity tournament at the Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf and Country Club on May 4.

Sponsored by Fook Loi Corporation (Sabah) Sdn Bhd, the vehicle is one of the three prizes offered in the tournament. The others are RM5,000 cash from Ocean Vantage Holdings Berhad (OVH), a one-year Golf Term Membership from Sutera Harbour and a mystery prize to be announced on competition day.

PJKAYS president Datuk Eddie Abdullah told reporters of the prizes during a press conference here yesterday.

He said they were expecting some 120 participants in the golf charity tournament, which will take place for the fourth straight year.

“Funds raised through the annual charity event will be used to host various welfare and well-being activities for orphans and needy children at orphanage centres we are collaborating with in various districts of Sabah.

“We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the main sponsor Ocean Vantage Holdings Berhad as well as supporting sponsors Fook Loi and Malaysian Aviation Group (MAG) as well as Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf and Country Club for their strong support towards the PJKAS golf charity event,” he said.

Eddie went on to say that Brigadier General Datuk Haji Al Hambra Tun Juhar, the deputy speaker of Sabah State Assembly, has kindly consented to launching the charity golf.

“Participating golfers will play on a Stableford System 36 format and with attractive prizes at stake for the top five winners in the VIP, Seniors, Medals A, B and C as well as the International Section.

“PJKAYS has included a new international section to attract golfers from neighbouring Brunei Darussalam and Koreans living or holidaying in Kota Kinabalu,” he said.

Meanwhile, Eddie said they were still opening the entries to until April 24 to allow more time for registrations.

“We hope to achieve the target of 120 golfers for the charity golf event,” he said.
