KOTA KINABALU: Mohd Redha Roslan justified his top billing to emerge as champion in the Coastal Ninja Warrior Challenge that ended at the Labuan Sea Sports Complex on Sunday.

Fondly known as ‘Mat Redho’, the 36-year-old from Selangor conquered the obstacle race course in 59 seconds to lift the open category title.

In fact Mohd Redha was one of the four ‘ninjas’ to have completed all five obstacles in the challenge.

The others were Mohammad Ramadan Mahani of Labuan in one minute and 33.84 seconds (1:33.84s), Awg Mohd Hasnal Husna Ahmad of Brunei (1:42.11s) and Mohd Harun Ibnu of Labuan (1:46.16s), who finished second to fourth placing.

“As expected Mat Redho attacked the obstacles quite easily but slowed down at the last stage, which was the hardest.

“The Ultimate Pegboard required the contestants to climb sideways to reach the other end of the board, covering 20 feet long distance.

“Only four contestants successfully completed the fifth obstacle,” event coordinator Roger Frederick told The Borneo Post yesterday.

He said the 2023 champion Abdul Shamnizam Rahman of Labuan made a great start to his title defence but he fell at hole number four when attempting the Ultimate Pegboard to settle for a 10th place finish.

The fifth to ninth place winners were Ewan Hassan (Sabah), Azizil Anwar Hj Mosli (Brunei), Marinus Mathius (Labuan), Mohd Fazwan Nizai Mohd Madun (Sabah) and Marcos Chang Jia Bao (Labuan).

In the 11th to 20th placing were Rosli B Bakrin (Labuan), Johadisyah B Johanis (Labuan), Rezzuan Daniel (Labuan), Izzat Murad (Brunei), Muhammad Lufti (Labuan), Low Leng May (Brunei), Daniel Andrew (Labuan), Danial Amat (Labuan), Edrry Arron (Labuan) and Gabrielle Chin Siew Li (Brunei).

The top three winners received RM2,000, RM1,500 and RM1,000 as well as trophy.

The fourth to sixth placing won RM500, RM300 and RM200 while those from seventh to tenth placing RM100 and 11th to 20th placing RM50 each.

Labuan Fire and Rescue Department director Abdul Rahman Ali presented the prizes to the top winners of Labuan Corporation-organised challenge in conjunction with the Labuan International Sea Challenge (LISC) 2024.
