KOTA KINABALU: Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) has allocated a fund of RM300,000 to finance the fees of entrepreneurs participating in courses at the Institut Keusahawanan Negara (INSKEN) in Sabah and Sarawak.

According to Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick, it would benefit 1,200 entrepreneurs interested in participating in entrepreneurship programs organized by INSKEN, an agency under the ministry.

“Some entrepreneurs may have limited knowledge on developing effective business strategies to compete in the market. Therefore, an approach to developing knowledge and skills for entrepreneurs is needed to create businesses with strong competitiveness in the market.

“In this regard, I am pleased to announce good news to entrepreneurs and small traders that INSKEN, in collaboration with YBR, will provide benefits totaling RM300,000 to 1,200 entrepreneurs in Sabah and Sarawak,” he said when opening the ‘Karnival Tekun Madani dan Showcase Satu Daerah Satu Industri (SDSI)’ in Kuala Penyu on Saturday.

Ewon said the financing would provide opportunities and incentives for entrepreneurs in East Malaysia to participate in entrepreneurship training programs.

“Yayasan Bank Rakyat will sponsor RM250 for each participant attending entrepreneurship training programs organized by INSKEN in Sabah and Sarawak. Through this initiative, I hope that more informal entrepreneurs in Sabah and Sarawak will take the opportunity to acquire entrepreneurship knowledge to strengthen their businesses,” he said.

He also urged entrepreneurs in the state to take advantage of the benefits provided by his ministry by registering for INSKEN training programs on the website www.insken.gov.my.

Also present were Beaufort member of parliament Datuk Siti Aminah Aching and Kuala Penyu assemblyman Datuk Limus Jury.
