Sabah junior karatekas for national ‘Bakat’ carnival in Melaka
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Karate Association (SKA) will send a 24man squad to the second series of the National ‘Bakat’ Carnival.
Karate competition will take place at the MBMB Basketball Hall in Bukit Serindit, Melaka from May 25-26.
SKA secretary general Julian Chin said it was one of the association efforts to develop the junior karatekas in the state.
Julian said there was no medal target set in the tournament that will gather some of the top juniors from around the country.
“It is hoped that the our youngsters will gain experience and exposure that will help in their development process,” he said.
There will be two age group categories for karate competition in the Carnival, namely 13-14 and 15-16 years old for boys and girls.
The state juniors competing in the 13-14 years old boy’s category are Adlin Vince Viceroy @ Irwan, Putra Ray Nazwa Heryzuan, Brandon Evan Chai, Al-Zovainz Jurizal, Leonard Vresly Ajen, Ellroy Neeyo Nicholos and Theo Noah Thomas.
The girl’s team will comprise Nur Rasyiqah Fari’ah Razmi, Norellfiera Ellieysyah Amirul, Dezzie Chel Davis, Chelsea
Olivia De Paul, Rose Dayana Mohammad Hamli and Amirah Syahindah Azlan.
In the 15-16 years old boy’s category, the athletes are Ryyen Ryye Gerrard Rojin, Khairil Iman Ahmat @ Hamzah, Kevin Karl Erwan, Alvince Dare Alfaveneo, Mohammad Idzham Zairie and Leonard Kok Chia Zheng.
As for the girls category, the competitors are Bibi Aysah Muhammad Zain, Shawanda Dania Sharul, Ameera Jnita Liew, Cassey Beraniva Gustin and Angel Seow Pei Yun.
The selected athletes are from various SKA districts and clubs across the state.
