149 receive awards from TYT
Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnichal Rayong Ngipa and Prof Dr Jayum Jawan of Universiti Putra Malaysia were among the 149 who received state awards from Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday.
The investiture ceremony was held at the banquet hall of Astana Negeri in Petra Jaya.
Rayong, a pioneering committee member of the United People’s Party ( UPP), and Jayum were awarded the Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS).
Prof Dr Awang Bulgiba, Dr Pubalan Muniandy and Assoc Prof Wan Akil Tuanku Abdullah were awarded the Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK).
Aishah Idris was the sole recipient of the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang ( PPC).
Meanwhile, Telang Usang assemblyman Dennis Ngau was among six recipients of the Pegawai Bintang Sarawak ( PBS).
Taib also presented the Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang ( PBK) to 10 recipients, Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti ( PPB) to 10 recipients, Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS) to 33 recipients, Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK) to 14 recipients, Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji ( PPT) to 31 recipients and Bentara Bintang Sarawak ( BBS) to 39 recipients.
Among those present at the ceremony were Taib’s wife Toh Puan Ragad Kurdi Taib, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang and Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office Datuk John Sikie Tayai ( Native Adat and Penan Affairs).
