Gao Yuanyuan to marry actor Mark Chao tomorrow
Actress Gao Yuanyuan, 35, star of Don’t Go Breaking My Heart 2, is to marry Taiwanese actor Mark Chao, 30, tomorrow.
It’s the culmination of the romance between two entertainers known for their scintillating roles in romantic comedies.
They had registered their marriage in Beijing on June 5, and will hold their wedding dinner at Le Meridien Taipei tomorrow.
According to Taiwanese media, 50 tables of guests are expected to turn up for the banquet which is estimated to cost NT$ 1.8 million ( RM195,000).
Since the registration in June, both Gao and Chao have been busy with their own work assignments and have remained low-key about wedding preparations.
They are still in the midst of preparing (for the wedding), so they didn’t expect the news to be out so early. It spoils the surprise a little. Mark Chao’s manager
It was only in recent weeks that Gao had been seen at Le Meridien Taipei in discussions with the management on how she wants everything to fit in.
As the hotel has signed a nondisclosure agreement with the couple, it declined to reveal details of the upcoming wedding. When contacted by reporters, Chao’s manager confirmed the date but refused to disclose more information. “They are still in the midst of preparing (for the wedding), so they didn’t expect the news to be out so early. It spoils the surprise a little,” he added.
Chao is known for his roles in movies such as, Caught in the Web, Love, The First Time, I Love You to You Love Me and Black & White Episode I.
Last year, he starred in two hugely successful films, So Young and Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon.
For Gao, it’s been a rollercoaster ride from TV series to movies.
In 2002, she played the leading role of Zhou Zhiruo in The Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre, a television series adapted from Louis Cha’s novel of the same title.
In 2005, she was on the red carpet at the 58th Cannes Film Festival, where her film Shanghai Dreams, directed by Wang Xiaoshuai, won the Prix de Jury prize. Jackie Chan has described her as “having the freshest look and chaste spirit that no Hong Kong actress could approach”.
Jackie later chose Gao to partner him in the laugh- outloud movie Rob-B-Hood.
Chao is of TaiwaneseCanadian parentage. He had shot to fame after starring as the main character Wu Ying Xiong in the television series Black & White. In 2009, he was named Best Leading Actor in a Television Series.
In 2010, he starred as Zhou Yi Wen in his first movie, Monga and was the Best New Actor at the 5th Asian Film Awards.
Reports have claimed that after the wedding, Gao is likely to move to Taiwan.
