‘Simoi to be re-nominated for Lingga seat’

-

SRI AMAN: Lingga assemblywoman Simoi Peri will be re-nominated as Barisan Nasional ( BN) candidate for Lingga state constituency in the upcoming state election.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem visualised Simoi who will contest under BN- Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) ticket as a winnable candidate.

“We will retain Simoi as candidate for Lingga constituency and I believe that she can be a capable people’s representative who can help and bring forth many changes to Lingga constituency for the next five years,” he said during the Lingga State Constituency Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri celebration at the Civic Centre here recently.

Adenan also envisioned that Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis and Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang might be renominated in the coming state election.

“I believe that Datuk Francis Harden and Datuk Mong Dagang will most likely be re-nominated to stand in the next state election as these two familiar faces with their vast experiences can bring more changes to their constituencies.

“They have a lot of experiences having gone to the ground to meet the people and we will also be featuring new faces in the 11 new constituencies at the next state election,” he disclosed.

Meanwhile, Adenan was pleased to learn of the verdict by the Court of Appeal which has restored the Election Commission’s ( EC) notice for proposed redelineation of Sarawak electoral boundaries.

“This means that in the next state election, we will have an additional 11 state constituency seats, making the total number of seats 82. These 11 seats approved by the EC are mostly in rural areas.

“With the additional seats in rural areas, we can therefore have more development implemented in rural areas and I hope that the people in rural areas will voice their grouse through their newly elected representatives later,” he said.

Others present at the ceremony included Adenan’s wife Datin Patinggi Dato Jamilah Anu, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, Deputy Home Minister Masir Kujat, State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar, Asssitant Minister of Rural Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Assistant Minister of Agriculture ( Research and Marketing) Datuk Mong Dagang and Lingga assemblywoman Simoi Peri.
