Chong laments S’wak BN marginalised by Najib, again
KUCHING: Bandar Kuching MP Chong Chieng Jen alleges that Sarawak BN had been marginalised by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak following his admission of receiving RM2.6 billion in donation for the benefit of Umno.
“Even giving Najib the benefit of the doubt that he did not take any of the donation for his personal benefit, such a statement is a slap on the face of other component parties in BN, especially the Sarawak BN.
“Did BN parties other than Umno receive nothing from Najib’s said donation money?
“Taking Najib’s word for it, it is evident that the Sarawak BN is once again marginalised, where preferential treatment is given to Umno,” he said in a press statement here yesterday.
Chong, who is also state DAP chairman and Kota Sentosa assemblyman, said Najib’s statement showed that Sarawak had been marginalised in not just the government policy but also the distribution of the donation money that the national BN chairman had collected.
As such, he opined there was no point for Sarawak BN to remain in BN.
“Sarawak has been exploited and marginalised by BN for all the past 52 years, and Sarawak BN has been meekly accepting such exploitations and marginalisations.
“Of late, ( Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri) Adenan Satem has openly condemned such marginalisation. As such, it is time for Adenan to put his words into action, especially given that Najib’s statement in Umno Bandar Tun Razak division has totally shown his contempt and disregards for other component parties in BN. He only cares for Umno.
“It is a total humiliation on Sarawak BN that despite having the numbers to be the king maker, yet when it comes to the distribution of the spoils, Sarawak BN did not receive any of the socalled donation money from Najib.”
