Johor Umno to discuss crooked bridge issue

-

JOHOR BAHARU: Johor Umno is expected to discuss the building of the crooked bridge issue at its liaison committee meeting at the end of this month.

Its secretary, Md Jais Sarday said the matter would be raised at that meeting, but it was up to the liaison committee to decide on the bridge issue.

“So far, we have not discussed about the bridge. But at the end of this month after all the divisional delegates’ meetings have been completed, we will hold the Johor Umno Liaison Committee meeting, which means the crooked bridge issue will be raised.”

Md Jais, who is also state Education, Information, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairman, said this when met at an Aidilfitri celebration hosted by Johor Biotechnology and Biodiversity Corporation (JBiotech), here yesterday.

He was responding to the speech by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak which touched on the crooked bridge, when opening the Pasir Gudang Umno division delegates’ meeting yesterday.

“To build the crooked bridge, I leave it to Johor Umno but there must be a basis for it,” Najib said, spontaneously.

development, Md Jais said this September, Johor Umno would gather its members with high educational qualifications to discuss the party’s direction in this modern era.

He said this effort was in line with Umno’s future plans in the next 10 years, in view of the need for Umno to be in tandem with young people’s thinking for it to remain relevant.

“We have 547 graduates in our Wanita, Youth and Puteri Umno wings who all this while have only been ordinary committee members in the party.

“They want to contribute more but have no opportunities, so we will gather them to discuss the party’s direction to keep up with the times,” he said. — Bernama
