DKSH expands in East Malaysia via new distributi­on center

KUCHING: DKSH Holdings Bhd ( DKSH) aims to capture opportunit­ies in the promising East Ma lay s ian ma rke t with the opening of a new distributi­on center in Kota Kinabalu.

According to a statement, the larger and more advanced distributi­on center replaces an older facility which was operating at full capacity.

The dist r ibut ion center represents a significan­t capacity upgrade in DKSH Malaysia’s consumer goods and healthcare infrastruc­ture and is part of its growth plans in the Sabah region.

The newly built facility is strategica­lly located in Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park ( KKIP) with easy access to Sepanggar Bay Container Port and to the city center.

Wel l connec ted to the t ranspor tat ion network, it allows DKSH to directly serve about 1,000 of DKSH’s consumer goods and healthcare customers in the region, including modern and traditiona­l retail outlets, hospitals, clinics and pharmacies.

The new distributi­on center also serves as a regional hub for the company’s smaller facilities in Tawau and Sandakan.

Speaking at the opening event, Nicholas McLaren, Head Country Management, DKSH Malaysia, said: “With its solid infrastruc­ture, strategic location and sound logistics services, the new distributi­on center strengthen­s DKSH’s unique and vast capillary distributi­on network in East Malaysia.

“We are well- positioned to leverage on Sabah’s promising market opportunit ies and growing demand for fast moving consumer goods, personal care, pharmaceut­icals, medical devices and consumer health products.

“The new distributi­on center will help us to better cater to our clients and customers, offering them the highest level of operationa­l efficiency in logistics and distribut ion services, ensuring faster route-to-market and ultimately helping them grow their business in East Malaysia,” he added.

The distributi­on center offers an additional capacity of 75,000 sqft for further expansion. The temperatur­e- controlled facility is equipped with a 29,000 sqft cold chain room for the storage and efficient handling of consumer and healthcare products including food categories, pharmaceut­icals, vaccines and li fe- saving medicine.
