-

KAPIT: Residents of Sungai Melipis, Batang Rajang have pledged to support Barisan Nasional (BN) during the next state election.

Tuai Rumah Mulai Mutek made the declaration on behalf of 10 headmen in the area during a recent visit by Jefferson Jamit Unyat, a political secretary to the Chief Minister.

“Rural folks are not left out of development. The BN government, both federal and state, have implemented many development projects in rural areas to continuously improve the quality of life,” said Jamit during the visit to inspect government projects implemented in the area.

“Common among the projects are jetties, walkways, new longhouse site levelling and earthwork, gravity water supply, housing, building materials, cash assistance, etc.”

Jamit advised rural folks not to be easily swayed by the empty promises made by the opposition.

“Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem in 2015 and 2016 allocated RM1 billion for rural development. Kapit being a rural constituency, surely we will benefit from the allocation.

“Don't forget Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi is Kapit Member of Parliament. He has many projects to be implemented here to increase rural incomes like the introduction of rubber as a cash crop,” he added.
