SPDP all out to deliver Tasik Biru to BN in state polls

-

KUCHING: SPDP vows to win the Tasik Biru seat, in line with the call made by senior Barisan Nasional (BN) leader Dato Sri Michael Manyin for all eight Bidayuh-majority constituencies to be claimed by the coalition in the coming state election.

Tasik Biru SPDP chief Michael Siten said the party could deliver Tasik Biru, a Bidayuh-majority constituency in Bau District, to BN based on the fact that the its nominated candidate had been receiving all-round support from BN components and grassroots there.

“Our nominated candidate Dato Henry Harry Jinep is more than capable of delivering the winning majority due to undivided support from all BN components in N2 Tasik Biru, and also the overwhelming support from the grassroots — be it from the Bidayuh, Chinese, Malay communities.

“They prefer Dato Henry to lead because they believe he can bring in fresh ideas and planning on how to develop Bau. They see in him a visionary leader, based on his success and achievements in the corporate world,” he said Friday.

Siten, who is also SPDP supreme council member, was supporting a recent statement made by Manyin, who is also PBB vice president, that BN must stake claim to all eight Bidayuh-majority constituencies to ensure that none would be left behind in terms of development and allocations.

Manyin said at a function in Kampung Plaman Nyabet in Serian last Saturday night that the state government would still be formed by BN.

“In the coming election expected in April, it is ‘gerenti menang’ (sure win) for BN which will then be given another mandate of five years to form the government.

“Therefore, it is crucial that all eight Bidayuh-majority seats are won by BN so that we, the Bidayuhs, could speak with a loud and united voice at the State Legislative Assembly. But if one or more of these seats are lost to the opposition, our voice would be heard less,” Manyin was quoted as saying.

Manyin also mentioned that by giving BN a clean sweep of all the Bidayuh seats, this would mark the community’s undivided support to the leadership of Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem as chief minister.
