‘A welcome paradigm shift among Chinese voters’

-

BAU: There is a distinct paradigm shift among Chinese voters in Sarawak to support the BN government as a result of the inclusive policies of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

In stating this, Assistant Minister of community Services Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie pointed out that among Adenan’s inclusive policy was the recognition of the UEC and massive financial support for Chinese schools and institutions throughout the State.

“Through these initiatives by the chief minister, I hope that the support from the Chinese community will be translated into votes for him to continue administering the state. This is because the chief minister wants the Chinese community to be part of mainstream politics in Sarawak,” Nansian said at a meet-the-people session held at Balai Raya Tondong Friday night.

“They can only do this through Barisan Nasional as BN is an inclusive political entity,” he said.

On the BN candidate for Tasik Biru, Nansian said he would leave the matter to the wisdom of the chief minister to decide.

“On my part, I am always available and ready to continue to serve the community if nominated to defend my seat,” said Nansian who is the incumbent Tasik Biru assemblyman.

At the function, Nansian presented RM45,000 worth of his MRP funds to five organisations: RM10,000 to the JKKK of Tondong; RM10,000 to the Tua Pek Kong of Tondong; RM 10,000 to Tua Pek Kong of Selalang; RM10,000 to SJK Chung Hua Tondong and RM5,000 to Rela Tondong.

Meanwhile, Penghulu Lee Say Hin said he was thankful to Nansian for his continuous financial support for the Chinese community of Tondong.

He also urged his people to continue to support the BN government and hoped that Nansian would be picked as the BN candidate in the coming state election.

“We have been very fortunate to have a YB like Datuk Peter Nansian who has been very caring and sincere in developing the whole of Bau district and assist all the people here regardless of their race and religions. We hope that he will continue to serve us,” stressed Lee.
