BN’s politics of devt here to stay — Mawan

PAKAN: The Barisan Nasional’s politics of development is an undertaking which benefits all strata of society including the opposition.

As such, it can never be outdated as long as people crave for development such as roads in rural areas, new schools, new hospitals, provision of treated water and electricity supplies to rural areas and so on.

“An example of `politics of development’ is the construction of a hall at SK Sungai Sugai,” said Minister of Social Development Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom.

Since BN had always been in power it was able to embark on its politics of development agenda; implementing projects all over the country, he said at the official opening of the RM200,000-hall on Friday.

He said the hall could not be considered as an exchange for votes because the pupils were not registered voters yet while some of the teachers might not be registered voters in the area and so were the parents.

“It is fair to say that the BN government has been entrusted by the people with the mandate to translate its development agenda into reality. It is therefore not wrong for the people to support the BN if they appreciate what it has offered,” Mawan said.

To further improve facilities at the hall as requested by the school’s parent-teacher association, Mawan agreed to chip in another RM40,000. He also managed to raise RM1,000 for the PTA fund from a song he delivered during a dinner held in conjunction with the hall opening ceremony.

Headmaster Rambli Jidi meanwhile said they had decided to name the hall after Billy Renang the school’s first PTA chairman who also contributed immensely towards the development of the school, including the land.

PTA chairman Empawi Jilum, Meradong/Julau District Council secretary Adrian Luang, Julau Parliamentary Special Affairs Department (Jasa) liaison officer Sylvester Embuas,

Pemanca Tekong Ranggi and other community leaders were also present.
