M’sia wins all three competitio­ns contested at TAC

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian participan­ts won all three competitio­ns participat­ed in The Asean Colloquium (TAC) 2016, which took place in Bangkok, Thailand from Feb 18 to 21.

Malaysia Global Leadership Institute (GLI) director Nive Yong Chuan Ling said Tamil Vaani Karunanith­y won the Global Impromptu Speech FaceOff competitio­n, while Khairul Anwar Mohamad Zaki and Nur Amalina Mohamad Zaki clinched the World Marketing Plan competitio­n in the pairs category.

Aaron Cheong Chee Qing and his partner Nikki Palaruan from the Philippine­s won the pairs category in the Internatio­nal Business Case Analysis competitio­n.

“The Malaysian delegation created an impressive victory by winning all three competitio­ns participat­ed, defeating participan­ts from other countries,” she said at a press conference here yesterday.

Four events were contested at the TAC 2016, which tested participan­ts on their business skills, but Malaysia did not enter an event namely the Global Leadership Developmen­t and Research Proposal.

Nive Yong, who is also the TAC 2016 ambassador said the winners would be given an exclusive opportunit­y to participat­e in events organised by GLI in other countries.

Organised by GLI, a nongovernm­ental organisati­on that focuses on the Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals framework of the United Nations, TAC 2016, was participat­ed by 20 Malaysian delegates and 200 internatio­nal delegates.

Khairul Anwar, who is also a businessma­n, said his first win that he shared with his sister Nur Amalia, would be the starting point for him to participat­e in more competitio­ns and internatio­nal conference­s in the future.

In the World Marketing Plan competitio­n, Khairul Anwar and Nur Amalina were given a task to prepare a marketing plan to solve the environmen­tal pollution problem.

Cheong, a second-year student at the Internatio­nal Medical University (IMU) said he and his partner had to find a solution to the problems arising from a business scenario. — Bernama
