Zambry: Youth State Assembly not merely exhibition

-

IPOH: The move to set up the Perak Youth State Assembly is not merely for show or an exhibition but is due to the determination to form a responsible backup generation to shape life in the future.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir said the state assembly was a test for the delegates to together ensure the issues of the people specifically related to youth could be debated.

“It is the best platform for youths in the state to highlight new ways to look at certain issues and exhibiting openness in debating issue related to the interests of the people and state,” he said when opening the Perak Youth State Assembly here, yesterday.

He said the trust and responsibility of the members who were picked for the youth state assembly were not in the least diluted despite not undergoing a selection process such as a general election.

“The selection of delegates has taken into account the representation from among the young generations who are involved in numerous youth movements and non-governmental organisations,” he said.

Currently, Zambry said there were 900,000 youths in Perak of whom only 20 per cent were active in associations and organisations.
