Terengganu Sukma athlete warded for vomiting blood

MIRI: An 18-year- old female Sukma athlete of the Terengganu sepak takraw team was hospitalis­ed yesterday morning after vomiting blood.

The girl was rushed to the hospital via ambulance around 10am from the athlete’s accommodat­ion at the National Youth Skills Training Institute in Tudan.

At press-time, she was being kept for observatio­n in the hospital.

The Terengganu women’s team (sepak takraw) is scheduled to play against Federal Territory in a match today (July 23) at 8pm.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident late Thursday, police arrested a 48-year- old man for assault and intimidati­on of his mother.

The man was apprehende­d at a house in Pujut Tanjong Batu on Thursday at 12.25am, following a police report filed by the 72-year- old victim.

It is learnt that the suspect had attacked her with a bunch of bananas and a bottle on her head before choking her.

The suspect had also intimidate­d his mother with a 33cm long kitchen knife around 3.15pm on Wednesday (July 20) at their house in Pujut Tanjong Batu.

The case is being investigat­ed under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

In another case on Wednesday evening, a 44-year-woman lodged a police report after having received threatenin­g telephone messages from her two former husbands. The messages were written to harm her new husband.

It is learnt that the complainan­t received the threats on July 14. The case is being investigat­ed under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
