State PKR: Sarawak Day very significant day for Sarawakians
KUCHING: Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) describes Sarawak Day as a very significant celebration for Sarawakians in the fight for the state’s right from the federal government.
Its vice chairman See Chee How said it was crucial for all the people, irrespective of their political affiliations and differences, to stand up and fight for Sarawak’s right.
“I feel that Sarawak Day celebration is a very significant and meaningful to the people of Sarawak... so let us all stand up and be united in our fight for our rights,” See said, concurring with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem who had called on the people to stay united behind the government to pursue the matter.
He told reporters this after attending the celebration, which was officiated at by Yang diPertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Adenan at Kuching Waterfront yesterday.
Besides See, several members of the opposition from Democratic Action Party ( DAP) also attended the celebration, held for the first time, after Adenan earlier this year announced that

July 22 would be a public holiday for the state.
See, who is Batu Lintang assemblyman, said the celebration must be celebrated by all to mark the fight for the rights of all Sarawakians being part of Malaysia.
He also said two other PKR assemblyman- Baru Bian ( Ba Kelalan) who is also state PKR chairman and Ali Biju ( Krian) were unable to attend the celebration due to other important engagements.
“They hope to come and attend the celebration, but could not do so sue to important commitments in their respective constituencies,” he said.
