Tradex a living showcase of Sibu businesses
SIBU: The Sales and Exhibition Expo ( Tradex) Sibu is an important component of Borneo Cultural Festival ( BCF) as a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their skills, providing information and promotion to consumers.
Dudong assemblyman Datuk Tiong Thai King said since the expo began eight years ago, it has gathered a following of many interested entrepreneurs and consumers.
“With the exposure to the public, local entrepreneurs will be able to connect directly with clients vis- a-vis a better understanding of market demand, thus improving their products and service.
“Potential clients also obtain latest information in connection with the new products and services on offer in the market.
“It is undeniable that it improves the quality of local businesses, giving more addedvalue to clients and in upgrading the living standard of the people,” he said when declaring open the Sibu Tradex 2016 at Town Square Phase II here on Thursday night.

Sibu Tradex 2016 organised by Cityvine (M) Sdn Bhd has chalked more than 100 entrepreneurs to take part in the expo from July 21 to 31.
Also present were managing director Prisca Leong of Cityvine, Ambank Sibu branch ( Tanahmas) head Stanley Ong Wee Siong, OCBC Sibu branch manager Albee Ling and organising chairman Tiong Chiong Ong.
Tiong ( Thai King), who is also chairman of Sibu Municipal Council, hoped all participants of Sibu Tradex would give their best to clients so as to develop their businesses.
“Your success is very important for the development of Sibu and providing job opportunities for the people as well as rendering income tax to the government,” he said.
Besides the healthy competition, he said the increased participants of Tradex also forge closer cooperation to create new business opportunities.
He commended Cityvine’s effort in improving the exhibition space and facilities, including usage of Facebook to encourage participants to give more attractiveness to their exhibition.
“The competition among the Tradex participants, like the Best Promoter and Best Exhibition Booth, is also a new sign for organising and uplifting the image of Sibu Tradex and BCF for visitors from outside,” Tiong added.
Sibu Tradex 2016 encompasses five major categories of exhibits, mainly automotive, food & beverage, household, fashion and wellness.
