Education a collective responsibility of all, says Bukit Goram rep
KAPIT: Parents have a role that is as significant as – if not more than – teachers in ensuring that their children would have the best that a good education can give.
In this respect, Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat believes that when it comes to activities in school meant to prepare students for major examinations, parents should strive to be a part of them.
“Education isn’t the sole responsibility of the teachers – it’s a collective responsibility of the pupils, parents, schools and the community. Of course in school, the teachers teach but at home, parents must spend quality time with their children like helping them with the homework or revision.

The week-long series of activities – jointly run by SK Trusa and SK Sungai Ulu Menuan, Batang Rajang – involved Primary 6 pupils from both schools who would be sitting for the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah ( UPSR) from Sept 5 to 7 this year.
On the programme, Jamit commended the organisers on their effort in helping the pupils gain more confidence during the examination.
“It’s the aspiration of every pupil to score excellent results. This, I believe, is also the hope of their parents.
Later, the assemblyman announced allocations of RM6,000 for SK Trusa parents-teachers association ( PTA) and RM5,000 for SK Sungai Ulu Menuan PTA.
Respective SK Trusa and SK Sungai Ulu Menuan headmasters Henry Bunsu and Migie Ujan, SK Trusa PTA chairman Jimmy Lanang, Kapit Education Office representative Joseph Ilo and local community leaders were present at the ceremony.
