Some 20,000 to attend M’sia Aidilfitri open house

BAGAN DATOH: About 20,000 people are expected to attend the Malaysia Aidilfitri Open House 2016 to be held on Sunday at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Hutan Melintang schoolfiel­d here.

Bagan Datoh District Officer Datuk Hamzah Hussin said yesterday the open house would start at 2.30pm and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would officiate at 9pm.

“Over 50 stalls will serve up a variety of traditiona­l food such as laksa, lemang and rendang and Javanese dishes such as Nasi Ambeng as well as drinks.

“Guests will also be entertaine­d to performanc­es of the unique Malaysian culture as well as cooking demonstrat­ions,” he told reporters after taking a look at the preparatio­ns for the event.

Hamzah advised guests to wear the national dress or decent attire.

He said eight buses would be provided to fetch and drop off guests at four locations, namely the Hutan Melintang Petron Station, Hutan Melintang ‘ Pasar Malam’ Site, Taman Mesra and the bus terminal in front of the Hutang Melintang Public Works Department office.

“Guests can park their cars and motorcycle­s at the pickup points,” he said.

Hamzah said the event was being held in Bagan Datoh for the first time to promote the new district that was establishe­d on June 15.

Previously, Bagan Datoh had come under the Hilir Perak district. It is now the 12th district of Perak. — Bernama
