Perodua Bezza dares to be different
MIRI: The much anticipated Perodua Bezza arrived at Miri’s shores on Thursday (July 21) and is now available for booking at two authorised dealers here, namely Kong Teck Motors Sdn Bhd and HRH Automobile Sdn Bhd.
The long-awaited 11th model makes history as it is Perodua’s first Energy Efficient Vehicle ( EEV) sedan to be introduced to the market and has received an overwhelming 4,028 bookings nationwide within five days even before its official launch.
With its affordable on-theroad prices from RM39,500 up to RM53,000, it is the perfect billing for young working adults and those with small families.
Interestingly, the sedan name takes inspiration from the word ‘Beza’ in Bahasa Malaysia, which means ‘different’ but which concurs well with the aspiration of Perodua president and CEO Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh, “exactly what Perodua’s first EEV saloon is – distinctly different”.
According to Aminar, Perodua Bezza which is an ‘A’ segment compact sedan began its development in 2014 with the support of Perodua’s partner Daihatsu of Japan. “The Bezza took RM300 million to develop and has 95 per cent local content,” he said.
The car is available in five variants, in 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre engines, which are mated with either manual and automatic transmissions.
The Perodua Bezza 1.3L Advance, which is the premium variant comes with Vehicle Stability Control – a safety feature that detects and reduce skidding on the wheels, traction control, brake assist and hillstart assist; ABS brakes with EBD and windshield wiper which changes speed in tandem with the vehicle’s acceleration, improving visibility in the rain; and big boot space.
And as an Energy Efficient Vehicle, the Perodua Bezza 1.0-litre variant may reach an impressive 22.km per litre for manual while auto transmission can go 21.3 km per litre.
In an ingenious design by Perodua, both rear seats and the front passenger seat can be folded for extra space in amazing eight different configurations. The Bezza can even fit a bicycle inside. The car comes in six colours which include sugar brown and ocean blue for the 1.3L variants as well as Perodua’s existing colours of lava red, ebony black, glittering silver and solid ivory white.
