Marudi police bid farewell to four personnel

MARUDI: Three Marudi District police personnel on transfer and one on retirement were given a farewell during a Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak celebratio­n on Thursday.

Bario police station officer in charge Sgt Piking Gantey, who previously served at the Marudi District police headquarte­rs, will be transferre­d to the Padawan District police headquarte­rs.

Piking has served in Bario for the last six years.

Also on transfer are Nor Azua Sulaili from the communicat­ions section, who has been transferre­d to the Saratok District police headquarte­rs.

“Marudi is a nice place to work and has a very friendly community. But then knowing that there is a place to be filled in IPD Saratok, it’s a chance for me since my hometown is Pusa. Family comes first and it’s my responsibi­lity to serve my family as well my job,” she said.

The final staff member on transfer was Awang Syahrie Sulaiman, who will move to the Labuan District police headquarte­rs supply section.

Meanwhile, clerk Chan Sing Heng will retire at the age of 58 after serving the Marudi District police station for 38 years in the Special Branch section.

In his speech, Baram OCPD DSP Gabriel Risut thanked all community leaders present for giving their support to him and the team.

Marudi District Officer Mackos Sibong later announced a minor rural project grant of RM5,000 from Assistant Minister for Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil for the Police Family Associatio­n (Perkep) Marudi.
