LIAM reaching out to young talents through structured internship programme

KUALA LUMPUR: The Life Insurance Associatio­n of Malaysia (LIAM) is offering opportunit­ies to young undergradu­ates to participat­e in the LIAM Structured Internship Programme, commencing September.

The programme, supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, is aimed at reaching out to young talents in 20 public universiti­es in the country to undergo a threemonth attachment with any 16 LIAM member companies.

The talents would be paid a monthly allowance of RM800, said a company statement.

The member companies are AIA Bhd, Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd, AmMetLife Insurance Bhd, AXA AFFIN Life Insurance Bhd,Etiqa Insurance Bhd.

Gibraltar BSN Life Bhd, Great Eastern Life Assurance (M) Bhd and Hannover Rueck SE Malaysian Branch.

Others include Hong Leong Assurance Bhd, Manulife Insurance Bhd, Malaysian Life Reinsuranc­e Group Bhd, MCIS Insurance Bhd, Prudential Assurance Malaysia Bhd, Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Bhd, Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd and Zurich Insurance Malaysia Bhd.

LIAM President Toi See Jong said the three-month internship experience would open the doors for students to gain an insight on the life insurance industry.

“We hope to create more job opportunit­ies for students from various discipline­s and change the misconcept­ion that the insurance industry is only focusing on a job as an insurance agent,” he added.

The LIAM Structured Internship Programme is open to all final year Malaysian students of all discipline­s from public universiti­es with a CGPA of 3.0 and above. — Bernama
