Awg Tengah, delegation visit Baotou

BAOTOU, China: The delegation from Sarawak on an investment promotion mission to China visited Baotou Internatio­nal Dry Port ( BCIT) in inner Mongolia which serves as a key inland port hub for Northern China and areas along the Silk Road.

Minister Industrial Developmen­t and Entreprene­urship, Trade and Investment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan led the delegation.

Inner Mongolia Diamond Combined Transporta­tion Co. Ltd runs the integrated inland port that provides transporta­tion of goods from Tianjin and Shanghai to other parts of China, Mongolia, Africa and Europe.

This freight transport agent is the only one in western inner Mongolia to serve the demand for freight transporta­tion services of Baotou city and its surroundin­g cities.

With a total area of 2.6 million square metres, own railway line of 1.5 km and integrated facilities ranging from customs and banking services, BCIT has 6,000 SOC containers with a throughput of up to two million tons.

Among those in the delegation were Assistant Minister of of Industrial Developmen­t ( Investment and Promotion) Datuk Julaihi Narawi, Assistant Minister of Resource Planning Datuk Naroden Majais, Assistant Minister of Public Health Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, Deputy State Secretary Datu Ismawi Ismuwi, permanent secretary to the Ministry of Industrial Developmen­t and Entreprene­urship, Trade and Investment Datu Liaw Soon Eng and representa­tives from the private sector in Sarawak.

Also in the delegation were Sarawak Timber Industry Developmen­t Corporatio­n (STIDC) general manager Datu Sarudu Hoklai, Limbang MP Hasbi Habibolah and STIDC deputy general manager Hashim Bojet.
