Permanent post for govt contract employees with 15 years service

KOTA KINABALU: Government contract employees with at least 15 years service can now apply to be absorbed to permanent posts, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun said.

He said the move, carried out in stages since July, would benefit about 15,000 employees nationwide.

“Now, we are still in the selection process and there are several aspects which have to be looked into, like discipline and health of the contract employees.

“It is opened to all staff from the low grade to profession­al grade for all posts in the government,” he told reporters after opening the Career Carnival and here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Joseph Entulu said the Malaysian Public Service Commission ( PSC) had received 1,385,460 job applicatio­ns nationwide between January and July this year.

“Of the total applicants, 77,349 had been called for interview, but only 44,175 applicants turned up.

“Until now, the number of applicants who have received job offer in various sectors in the government is 9,506 people,” he added.

He said out of the 1,385,460 job applicants, 168,628 of them were from Sabah.

A total of 4,939 of them were called for interview and 746 people were offered jobs at various department­s, he added. — Bernama
