AirAsia wins best low cost/budget airline title at APAI Awards 2016
BENGELURUR: AirAsia Bhd (AirAsia) once again has been named the ‘ Best International Low Cost/ Budget Airline’, by the Air Passengers Association of India ( APAI) at the APAI Awards 2016.
The airline has been presented this coveted title based on a poll conducted by APAI from July 28, 2016 to August 10, 2016. AirAsia said it was proud to announce that the airline was way above its competitors in the poll.
APAI was started in November 1990 with an aim to protect passengers’ interests, redress their grievances and improve air connectivity. Acting as a constant liaison between passengers and airport operators for various matters relating to air travel, APAI is entering its Twenty fifth year of service.
Celebrating the Silver Jubilee Anniversary, the association has called for the ‘APAI Awards 2016’ to give away awards in various categories, including Best Full Service Airline- Domestic Best Low Fare Airline — Domestic, Best New Entrant — Domestic, Best Full Service — International Airline, Best International Low Cost / Budget Airline Operating out of/into India, Best Metro Airport, Best Non-Metro Airport.
The award was received by Suresh Nair, General ManagerIndia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for AirAsia, presented by MRam Vilas Paswan, Honourable Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution at a celebratory ceremony at New Delhi on 24th Aug 2016.
The event was graced by several Union Ministers including Mr.Nitin Gadkari Hon Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping , Ms. Smriti Irani, Minister for Texti les, Rudy Pratap Singh, Minister for Skill Development and Mr. R.N. Choubey, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation.
AirAsia is Asia’s largest lowcost carrier by passengers carried and jet fleet, with unmatched frequencies. AirAsia was named World’s Best Low- Cost Airline and Asia’s Best Low- Cost Airline for the eighth year in a row by Skytrax.
