The deceased in the 7.30am incident was identified as Abi Redis, 31, of Kampung Podam in Bau.

At the time of the incident, Abi and a 21-year- old fellow villager were making their way towards the city when their motorcycle was struck by an oncoming bike ridden by a 22-year- old from Jalan Astana in Petra Jaya, who himself was flung against the bumper of an oncoming lorry by the impact.

“As the victim exited the junction, her motorcycle was struck by another bike ridden by a 21-year- old male from the same village, who was heading towards Sematan at the time and was believed to be travelling at speed,” he disclosed, adding the teenager died on the spot after being flung from her machine.

The other motorcyclist was injured in the incident and taken to a clinic in Sematan prior to being admitted at Lundu District Hospital for further treatment.

The incident is also being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
