SPDP fully behind Adenan’s leadership
SIBU: Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) pledges full support for the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
“We wish to reaffirm that SPDP has always been and will continue to support the state leadership under the captainship of Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem – the Chief Minister of Sarawak.
“We are fully behind what he has done during the last three years or so, especially the many policy decisions that he has made in assisting and helping, in particular, the rural communities in alleviating the problems of rising costs of living, and in helping to mitigate the difficult global economic outlook,” he said in a press statement to The Borneo Post here yesterday.

parliament – Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing ( Bintulu), Anthony Nogeh ( Mas Gading) and Anyie Ngau ( Baram).
Penguang added, “We also respect his (Adenan’s) courage for tabling the 2017 Budget during the first day of the State Legislative Assembly ( DUN) sitting on Nov 21 – which was the first deficit budget in 14 years, in order to compensate for the shortfall in federal allocations ... and to ensure continuous development, with about 50 per cent of the allocation for development set aside for rural development.
“That is for infrastructure, utilities (water and electricity) and other basic needs which would help enhance the quality of life of the rural populace.
“In short, the 2017 Budget is indeed development- biased and rural focused.”
The Marudi assemblyman added that SPDP was fully behind Adenan’s initiatives to restore the state’s rights as clearly spelt out in MA63 (Malaysia Agreement 1963), the Cobbold Commission Reports and other related ‘ Multilateral Agreements’ signed by the different stake holders during the formation of Malaysia in 1963.
“We are indeed very privileged to be involved in the discussion on the devolution of power, which is on-going.
“We have full confidence, that given the good relationship between the state and federal governments and the tactful approaches of our chief minister, Sarawak will stand to achieve more successes and ‘ take back’ what are rightfully ours – particularly with regard to the right to our natural resources and other privileges.”
