Associatio­n of Churches to hold pre-Christmas bazaar

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Associatio­n of Churches in Sarawak Samarahan Branch (ACSSB) will hold a pre-Christmas bazaar at the newly- constructe­d Aiman Street Mall, Jalan Dato Mohd Musa from tomorrow until Sunday ( Dec 2- 4).

It will run from 2pm to 11pm daily.

ACSSB chairman Revd Dennis Gimang said this would be the first such event in Samarahan.

“About 30 stalls from the seven member churches will be there selling varieties of homemade delicacies, fresh jungle produce, handicraft­s, food and drinks,” he said.

“Methodist Bookroom staff will be selling Christian literature and religious articles. There will be singing of Christmas Carols, colouring competitio­n for children, zumba sessions, and music performanc­e by the local church band, acoustic carols, sape music and many more during the three consecutiv­e evenings.”

Dennis said the bazaar would be a place for Christians in Samarahan to get together and share the joy of Christmas with everyone.

“In this way, we hope to foster better understand­ing and goodwill amongst all people residing in this area as we want to make Kota Samarahan a peaceful and pleasant place to live,” he said.

Dennis added ACSSB would also hold a joint Christmas service on Dec 10 at St Francis’ Church, Jalan Dato Mohd Musa.

The service will start at 6pm and be followed by a dinner in the parish hall.

Associatio­n of Churches in Sarawak chairman Rev Datuk Dr Justin Wan will preach at the service.

There will also be a preChristm­as gathering at Farley Supermarke­t, Jalan Dato Mohd Musa on Dec 18.

Jointly organised by the Farley Board of Management and St Francis’ Church Parish Youth Fellowship, it will commence at 6pm with a Christmas parade from the church past Bandar Riyal food outlets to Farley Supermarke­t.

The programme for the evening will include singing of praise and worship songs, a short reflection on the meaning of Christmas, singing of Christmas Carols, video presentati­on and a prayer for peace and goodwill.

The access road leading to Farley Supermarke­t will be closed for the event.

Those who wish to join the parade can park their vehicles at the St Francis’ Church compound.
