Pekida Bintulu elects former advisor as new chairman

BINTULU: The district’s Malaysian Islamic Propagatio­n and Welfare Organisati­on (Pekida) has elected former advisor Wan Sulaiman Wan Maulana as its chairman for the 2016-2019 term.

The announceme­nt was made during its second annual general meeting (AGM) at Kemena Hotel here recently, which gathered 500 members from across this district.

Wan Sulaiman would be assisted by his deputy Mohamad Zakry Kiprawi, the secretary Mohamad Zul Aliffin Abdul Gafar, and treasurer Hasbi Lani.

The 11 committee members members are Samsuri Narawi, Harun Mat Nor, Mohamad Madani, Affendi Jaffar, Mohamad Jazlee Khan Jalaludin Khan, Haslizul Wahab, Zulkapli Hipni, Muzidi Ameran, Shahrul Taha, Putra Salleh and Kharizul Kadir.

Wan Sulaiman, in his acceptance speech, hoped for solid cooperatio­n and commitment from all executive and committee members in executing their respective roles towards effective administra­tion and management of Pekida Bintulu.

According to him, each Pekida member must uphold the laws and principles of Islam in dispensing their duties in that they are the role models for the local Muslim community.

“God-willing, we will reach out to the community next year by implementi­ng more communityo­riented activities.”

Wan Sulaiman also stressed that Pekida Bintulu was strictly apolitical or under the influence of any other organisati­on or individual­s.
