KUCHING: Rurum Kelabit Sarawak Wanita ( RKSW) will hold a fundraising gala dinner at Imperial Hotel here this Dec 16.

According to a press statement, proceeds from the dinner will go to RKSW’s social, cultural and welfare activities to benefit Kelabits in the state.

Guests at the dinner will witness a showcase of the Kelabit community’s lifestyle with RKSW members demonstrating what they have learned from the association’s classes on cultural dance, music, arts and craft.

As the women’s branch of Rurum Kelabit Sarawak, RKSW comprises Kelabit women and their spouses keen to contribute to their community.

It is a platform to promote, develop and preserve Kelabit culture, arts, crafts, songs, music and dance.

RKSW organises Kelabit cultural dance and music classes for youths aged five to 18 mainly in Kuching area as well as conducts ‘ nuuk ba’o’ ( beading) and ‘ nenganuh’ (weaving) class for adults.

These classes are funded by the association, which recruits teachers and relies on volunteers to keep the classes going.
