THE FATE of the Myanmar ethnic group, Rohingya drew the attention of Umno wings at their respective assemblies yesterday, with Umno Youth urging for Myanmar’s membership in Asean to be reviewed following the oppression and cruelty imposed on the ethnic community.

Its head, Khairy Jamaluddin said the principle of non-intervention could not be applied when there was massive destruction committed in an Asean nation.

The Umno Youth also urged the Myanmar government to take immediate action to stop all forms of cruelty against the ethnic group immediately.

“I wish to emphasise that the Umno Youth movement strongly criticises the cruelty against the Rohingya in Myanmar which is most inhuman and totally unacceptable by anyone,” he said when delivering the policy speech at the Umno Youth General Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre, here.

Earlier in his speech, Khairy who is also the Youth and Sports Minister drew the attention of the delegates to a video clip showing the cruelties against the Rohingya ethnic group in Myanmar.
