Umno Youth, Wanita and Puteri must have ‘winning mentality’

KUALA LUMPUR: ‘Winning mentality’ has become the clarion call of Umno Youth, Wanita Umno and Puteri Umno to steer the party to victory in the 14th general election (GE14).

Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and Puteri Umno chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin stressed on the need for a ‘winning mentality’ at their general assemblies.

Khairy, who is also Youth and Sports Minister said he did not want to hear members talking as if Barisan Nasional ( BN) would lose the general election.

“We must believe that we can win, we do not admit defeat before the war. ‘Winning mentality’ will make the people feel confident in Umno.

“This is to get the party machinery to pursue every vote and counter the arguments of enemies.”

Meanwhile, Shahrizat said Umno needs to win because the party is the shelter for the Malays.

“A win for the Malays is also a win for the other races. We have to win, we must win,” she added.

Mas Ermieyati urged delegates to cultivate a ‘winning mentality’ within them as a shield and weapon in dealing with the lies spread by the enemies.

She said a good example was 18th century American politician Benjamin Franklin who wrote a letter to borrow a book and returned it with a note of thanks in his autograph book, which earned the respect of rivals.

“This story shows how a man who has a winning mentality manages a problem. A winning mentality and self confident will result in a meaningful victory,” she added. — Bernama
