Outsourcing Malaysia honours nation’s best GBS companies

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Outsourcing Malaysia, a chapter of the National ICT Association of Malaysia ( PIKOM), held its 2016 OM Excellence Awards recently to honour stellar contributions and performance by Malaysia’s top companies with the Global Business Services (GBS) sector.

Now in its sixth year, the awards ceremony is the country’s sole distinctive platform that recognises excellence in GBS across organisations and individuals.

In particular, the awards serve as a catalyst in the development and growth of industry best practices and standards; which in turn continue to strengthen Malaysia’s value proposition and competitive positioning as a world- class GBS location.

The GBS sector remains a bright spot for Malaysia’s economy – estimated to grow 10 to 15 per cent for the next five years; while having created more than 13,000 jobs in 2016.

The sector has already surpassed initial targets of creating 43,000 new jobs by 2020 with more than 85,000 jobs created by 2016.

The awards are intended for buyers, end-users and service providers who exemplify outstanding contributions or set the benchmark in contact centre operations, business process outsourcing, shared services and other facets of GBS.

Held annually, the awards consist of multiple categories to equitably showcase services orientation and outcome- centric value delivered using outsourcing models.

Among the night’s winners were Datacom Asia in Operational Excellence in IT, Aegis BPO Malaysia for Operational Excellence in Contact Centers and Operational Excellence in HR, Cuscapi Berhad for Best Practices in Business Process Transformation and Brandt International for Best Practices in Corporate Social Responsibility.

The highlight of the ceremony was the 2016 Outsourcing Leader of the Year Award – presented to David Wong, CEO SnT Global Sdn Bhd ( kindly see end of release for the full list of awards recipients).

“The OM Excellence Awards began in 2011 and over the years, this platform has developed in tandem with the progress of Malaysia’s GBS industry.

“Hence, with the industry’s growing stature and contribution to Malaysia’s economy, it only apt that we continue to recognise the companies within the industry and celebrate those who have excelled and played a leading role in Malaysia’s continued GBS success story,” shared OM Chairman, Cheah Kok Hoong.

The OM Excellence Awards was held together with the 2016 Smart Sourcing Summit (SSS) –the GBS sector’s most prominent gathering of captains of industry from across Malaysia.
