Najib, Zahid, perform Friday prayers at PWTC
PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his deputy, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday performed Friday prayers at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here.
They were joined by thousands of Muslims, mostly delegates attending the Umno general assembly at PWTC, in addition to the public, observers and media practitioners.
The Friday prayers were led by the imam of Masjid Ara Damansara, Mohd Shukri Ali, while the sermon was read by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.
In his speech, Jamil Khir reminded that Muslims face attacks in the form of telecommunications equipment and the social media.
He said many Muslims lost the fight after believing the information spread via telecommunications equipment and the social media.
“Slander spread via the social media can divide the Muslim community. Some of the uncensored information cannot be accepted by the human mind.”
“The attack is so powerful that it does not require the public to spread but enough by pressing the keyboard,” he added.
In the face of this attack, Jamil Khir said Muslims must always practice the concept of ‘tabayyun’ or seek clarification on the information received.
He urged Muslims to attend the solidarity rally at Titiwangsa Stadium on Sunday to support the Rohingyas in Myanmar and to condemn the cruelty on them.
Jamil Khir said the rally will be attended by Najib, who is also Umno president and Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, the president of PAS.
After Friday prayers, Jamil Khir led prayers ‘ hajat’ prayers to seek the protection of Allah for oppressed Muslims in Myanmar, Palestine and Syria. — Bernama
