Police arrest husband and wife, seize drugs worth RM25,000 in Temerloh

TEMERLOH: Police have arrested a husband and wife believed to be involved with drug traffickin­g in a raid in Taman Sri Layang near here on Saturday.

Temerloh District acting police chief Supt Zundin Mahmood said the suspect, 25-year- old man and his 20-year-old wife, were arrested in a raid at 10.10pm raid when they were waiting in a car for customers.

“The team from Temerloh narcotics branch had to wait for over an hour before they managed to arrest the couple,” he said at a press conference in Temerloh police headquarte­rs yesterday.

Zundin said following the interrogat­ion of the two suspects, police then managed to find the drugs, methamphet­amine and heroin, in the couple’s rented house at Taman Rimba near here.

“Police seized 231.53 grams of heroin and 63.7 grams of syabu worth RM25,000 from the couple,” he said.

He said further investigat­ion also found that the couple obtained the drug supply from a Chinese man in Gombak to be distribute­d around Mentakab, Jerantut and Lipis.

The man who has no previous criminal record tested positive for drugs while his wife tested negative, he said.

The case is being investigat­ed under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a mandatory death sentence if convicted. — Bernama
