Two accused in drug in e-liquid case to submit representation

-

SHAH ALAM: A former teacher and a former serviceman facing charges involving drug found in e- electronic cigarette liquid ( e-liquid) will submit a representation to the AttorneyGeneral’s Chambers to seek a reconsideration of the charge against them.

Azhariza Zakaria, 40, and Zaki Mohd Ali, 35, through their respective lawyers, Ahmad Shamil Azad Abdul Hamid and Mohd Hazrin Alif Wahab, informed the High Court here yesterday when their case was mentioned before Judge Wong Teck Meng. Wong then set Jan 26 for case management pending the outcome of the representation.

Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Fairuz Johari told the court that the chemical report from the Chemistry Department confirmed that the drug detected in the e-liquid was 155ml of delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol.

On Dec 18 last year, Azhariza, Zaki and another person, Shazlina Azlin Mat Daud, 37, were jointly charged at the Ampang Magistrate’s Court with trafficking 2,060g of cannabis at No 01, 18th Floor, Block N, Seri Maya Condo, Jalan Jelatek 2, near here, at 9.30pm on Dec 7.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Shamil Azad told reporters outside the court that he would submit the representation as the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 does not specify a minimum weight for delta9- drug tetrahydrocannabinol although it is listed under the First Schedule of the Act. — Bernama
