Kedahans urged to go early to witness Agong’s return home

-

ALOR SETAR: Kedahans have been advised to go out early to witness the historic return of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’Adzam Shah to his home state on Monday so as to avoid congestion.

Secretary of Lambaian Kasih Parade Committee, Nadzman Mustaffa said 60 tents will also be set up along the 4.7 kilometre route from the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport to Istana Anak Bukit.

The organisers have also prepared an interesting show by artistes, with patriotic songs and quizzes on Tuanku Abdul Halim at three selected stops.

“Public can also view the Malaysia Cup at the fourth checkpoint at TH Hotel and attend concerts held outside the Federal Government Administrative Centre and the Police Training Centre at Anak Bukit from 9am to 11am.

“Initially, we plan to have shows at each of the 14 checkpoints, but out of respect for the birthday of Prophet Mohamad, we have limited the shows, with a possibility that it would be a nasyid performance,” he told Bernama.

The committee would provide 1,500 umbrellas to the public who will be waiting for the arrival of Tuanku Abdul Halim, who is also the Sultan of Kedah.

“The public have been advised to park their vehicles at designated places and obey the instructions of the police so as not to cause any problems.” — Bernama
