Jessie Chung goes all out in production of latest music video

-

KUCHING: The filming of Jessie Chung’s music video for her latest hit ‘Be Strong’ signifies the theme of the song.

The international recording artiste travelled to the shores of Lancelin and the Pinnacles Desert at Cervantes in Western Australia recently for the shooting of the video.

The harsh conditions of these locations had certainly taken its toll on Chung, who suffered severe sunburns during the scenes at the desert and cuts during the shoot at the beach.

“I stood under the scorching sun for more than eight hours. It was not until wrap-up when I felt a tingling sensation in my skin – it turned out that my skin had turned red and begun to peel off.

“I was rushed to the nearest hospital where the doctors told me that the sunburns were severe, and they would take a while to heal,” she said.

In another scene, Chung had to brave the waters off Lancelin. For her, it was quite a terrifying experience but she was really determined to finish filming.

“The wind was fierce and unforgiving, and the towering wall of waves rolled in constantly. I was so cold that I was shivering uncontrollably. I almost got swept away by high waves a few times.”

Chung said she was also directed to run barefoot along the beach, of which the sandy surface was uneven and had fragments of jagged rocks and washed-up seashells.

“It was supposed to be a romantic scene, but it was far from it. I thought I had experienced worse but this one really blew me out of the water – pun not intended,” she joked.

Chung stormed the international music scene when she released her debut English album ‘ There You Are’ in August.

Thereon, the album rocked two of Taiwan’s most authoritative and prestigious music charts – ranking among the top two position on the international charts of ‘Five Music’ and also ‘i Radio’.

“On i Radio’s international chart, she (Chung) even outranks Lady Gaga. She is the only Malaysian to have ever entered Taiwan’s Five Music’s international chart and as the icing on the cake, the total YouTube views on her latest album have surpassed the three-million mark in just two months,” said Chung’s spokesperson.

‘Be Strong’ is set for release this Dec 15.
