Student leaves ‘shocking’ message on Instagram before drowning incident

KUALA NERUS: ‘A shocking thing is going to happen’.

Those were the final words from 13-year- old Ahmad Bahaqi Muzanni Nor Shariman on his Instagram before the tragedy which saw him drown near the Seberang Takir beach yesterday.

His mother, Azura Abdul Latif, 43, said she had read her son’s status, however, he did not seem any different from his normal self, and had even asked permission to go out with his friends.

“However, I was shocked when told that my son drowned while swimming with friends at the Seberang Takir beach,” she said when met at Kampung Telaga Daing here yesterday.

Azura said Ahmad Bahaqi Muzanni was a beloved member of her family and a bright Form One pupil of SMK Sains Sultan Mahmud Kuala Terengganu.

Meanwhile, another victim, Mohd Mujahid Mohd Zuni, 13, was a student of SM Kompleks Seberang Takir and the youngest of three siblings.

His father, Mohd Zuni Muda, 46, a salesman, said he managed to meet his son when returning from work, at about 5pm yesterday.

“He told me he was going out with some friends, but he did not say where he was going to,” said the heartbroke­n father.

In the incident, the two students were swimming near the beach along with two other friends before drowning.

Ahmad Bahaqi Muzanni’s body was found at 10.35pm, about 500m from the location, while Mohd Mujahid was found 10m from the area, at 7pm. — Bernama
