SIBU: A 55-year- old woman reported her 14-year- old son to the police after he ran amok at a longhouse at Mile 16 Oya Road here yesterday.

However, she retracted the report shortly afterward as she did not want to press charges against her son.

Deputy police chief Supt Martin Koo said the suspect was detained for documentation process.

It is said that at about 8am yesterday, the woman asked her son to send her to the paddy field but was told his motorcycle had broken down.

She expressed her cynicism knowing they had two motorcycles at home.

This could have triggered her son’s emotion.

He suddenly ran amok and took a knife and pointed it at her.

Terrified, the woman ran out of the house and with her husband went in a bus to town to lodge a police report at 10.24am.

The woman has five children, four of whom were married.

The 14-year- old son stays with her at the longhouse.

Her husband works as a security guard while she is a farmer.

It is believed that her 14-yearold son has dropped out of school for about a year and has refused to go to work.

He is believed to have asked his mother for money oft- time, and would threaten to hit her with a wood or a knife if she refused to give.

It was said that the son was a bright student who scored 5As in his UPSR examination but did not want to continue his studies.
