Banyi clarifies his statement on Teras members joining SPDP

-

KUCHING: Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak ( Teras) deputy secretary- general Banyi Beriak yesterday said he had no personal agenda when he said in a statement recently that Teras had not joined forces with Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP).

He clarified that then he was just citing the fact based on party procedure.

Being an official of the party, he said he could vouch that Teras had not resolved in black and white any move to unite with SPDP although there was talk about it in the party.

However as an individual and party member, Banyi said he could testify that most members if not all, would view the unification of SPDP members and former and present members of Teras as the best option for them to continue their political struggle.

Banyi added that his loyalty to Tan Sri William Mawan should not be doubted as he is working in the office of the Pakan assemblyman who is also the Saratok MP at Jalan Rubber here.

“At the material time I was talking in my capacity as the deputy secretary- general and executive secretary of Teras and I was telling the truth on validity of party procedure and process. Indeed there was no resolution on such unification move.

“However most members if not all, had expressed their wish or intention to move on to SPDP. I will follow Mawan and the majority,” said Banyi.

He apologised to anyone who was offended by his statement.

Banyi said he was all for unification as it is the best option for Barisan Nasional ( BN).

Afterall such move has already been accepted by most state BN leaders particularly those in SPDP and Mawan himself as best option, he said.

Banyi is among those instrumental in founding Teras in 2013. Teras still maintains its pro-BN status although it had not been accepted as BN component.

Mawan has been partyless after he resigned from Teras to enable him to contest as direct BN candidate in Pakan in the May 7, 2016 state polls.
