Leos in efforts at saving Mother Earth

MIRI: Like other Leo Clubs in the city, the Leo Clubs of Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang and SMK St. Columba Miri also uphold the practice of 3R - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

The Leos recently embarked on a major service project called ‘Joint Donation & Recycling’, before the year- end school holidays.

On hand to assist them were members of the Lions Club of Miri Host, while the recyclable items were delivered to the Tzu Chi Recycling Education Centre in Krokop here.

“This concept is part of the Local Agenda 21 or LA21 programmes and Miri Green City Image,” organising chairman Isaac Jolly said.

The event was also to commemorat­e the Internatio­nal Leo Service Day with this year’s theme ‘ Leading to a Greener Tomorrow’.

Isaac thanked the Lions of Miri Host led by its president Peter Yong, teachers, school staff and students for their strong support and cooperatio­n in the project.

The project created greater awareness among the Leos on the importance of recycling in saving mother earth and nature.
