Youth assaulted over loud revving of motorcycle

-

KUCHING: A youth was left with multiple bruises after he was assaulted by a group of men over an earlier argument over the loud revving of a motorcycle.

The incident happened around 10pm on Friday when the 23year-old victim and several friends were hanging out by the roadside near their homes at Kampung Sinar Budi Baru in Batu Kawah.

According to the group, an unknown man suddenly appeared on a motorcycle and stopped in front of them before appearing to deliberately rev his machine loudly several times.

The man’s action saw the youth angrily questioning him over his motive for revving the machine, which then resulted in a brief war of words between the two.

The motorcyclist, however, sped off shortly after but returned minutes later with a group of his own friends in three cars to not only confront the youth, but rain blows on him before driving off from the scene.

The victim’s friends, who were all not targeted by the group, later helped send the youth to Sarawak General Hospital to seek treatment for his bruises.

In a separate case, the owner of a coffee shop in Serian sustained a suspected fractured arm after being involved in a fight with two men on Friday evening.

The 34-year-old victim was said to have become involved in an argument with the pair, said to be friends of one of his workers, when they suddenly began exchanging blows behind the coffee shop.

During the fight, one of the men struck the owner on his arm using a heavy chopping board while the other splashed hot oil on the victim’s neck and back.

After both men fled the scene, the owner sought medical attention at Serian district hospital for a suspected fractured arm and scalding to the back of his neck and back before being referred to Sarawak General Hospital here for further treatment.
