KUCHING: The Sri Satok community-based rehabilitation centre (PDK) will have its own building soon, says Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

According to him, the government has approved a RM500,000 budget for the project and a piece of land near Kampung Patingan within the Satok constituency – has been identified as a strategic site for it.

Currently, Sri Satok PDK is operating at a rented building at Jalan Dagok/ Jalan Muda Hashim. It houses 42 trainees at the moment.

“There is currently no PDK in Sarawak that is disabledfriendly. Upon the completion of the new Sri Satok PDK building, it would be the first of its kind. We have specifically made sure that the design would accommodate people with special needs as they’re the ones who would use the facility the most,” he said during an event dedicated to individuals with disability (OKU) run by Sri Satok PDK at a shopping mall here yesterday.

Adding on, Abang Johari – who is Satok assemblyman – said the new building would be a permanent feature in the area.
