State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, in giving this message, thanked all former Datuk Bandar and staff who had helped to shape and build the commission since 28 years ago to what it is today.

“Everyone worked hard for DBKU and everyone deserved applause for their effort throughout the years,” he said during the ‘Jasamu Dikenang, Budimu Disanjung’ dinner at The Waterfront Hotel on Friday.

According to Morshidi, DBKU’s feat of winning 137 awards in 28 years was an amazing feat for an organisation, and urged the current leadership and staff to continue the excellent track record.

“The government knows the importance of city development, and to ensure that Kuching as the state capital continues to grow, the council must play important roles.

“The city is where the population is concentrated. And DBKU must ensure that the economy is growing and demand for businesses is also growing,” said Morshidi.

He also advised DBKU staff to ensure that the organisation remain stable and also urged them to enhance their knowledge and skills to be able to do their job well.
