ITA College renamed Toh Puan Dr Hajah Norkiah College
SIBU: ITA College is now known as Toh Puan Dr Hajah Norkiah College.
Its chief operating officer, Dato Sri Dr Benny Lee, announced this during the launching of the college’s foundation here on Sunday.
The function was officiated at by former Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng and his wife Toh Puan Dr Hajah Norkiah.
Lee said the college’s board of directors had consented to the name change in appreciation of selfless support and contribution to rural education by Abang Muhammad Salahuddin and Norkiah.
“Tun and Toh Puan have been with us all this while through thick and thin,” he said.

Earlier, Lee said the college was committed to raising education standards by applying practical experience to learning.
For this reason, he said the college was setting up a new campus on 11 acres along Tunku Abdul Rahman Road here.
He said the new campus, expected to be ready by 2019, would incorporate an oncology and cardiology medical centre, home for the aged, a dialysis centre, physiotherapy clinic and modern sporting facilities.
“With the new campus facilities, we will be able to accommodate academic courses such as Diploma in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Medical Assistant, Medical Lab Technology, Hospitality and Tourism,” he said.
“In addition, there will be vocational courses available, such as plumbing, airport operation and management, emergency aid first responder and housekeeping management.”
Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee and Lee’s wife, Datin Sri Leanne Ngoi Ping Ting, were also present.
