Quality boost behind SMK Kota Samarahan’s results
KOTA SAMARAHAN: SMK Kota Samarahan registered an improvement in terms of quality in its overall PT3 ( Form Three Assessment) result this year.
Its principal Bujang Awang Jamain explained that the improvement was based on the increase in number of students obtaining straight and six As.
“We are glad that the overall PT3 result of the school this year has shown an improvement in terms of quality when compared with 2015. In 2015, only one student obtained straight As. This year we have two such students,” he said when met at the school’s certificate presentation yesterday.
“The number of students obtaining 6As and above has also increased, from 12 in 2015 to 17 this year,” he added.
The two students who obtained straight As (10As) are Siti Hajar Asyabirrah Hisham and Sharifah Nurazmina Wan Aziz.
Meanwhile, the four students who obtained 8As are Ariff Hafizi Kamarulzaman, Ryan Giggs Paul Natu, Nur Maisarah Azman and Nur Hamizah Alias.
Six students obtained 7As — Izzul Husammuddin Halikul, Anis Farahin, Angela Tagau, Batrisyia Irdina Mohammad Fikri, Nur Fatini Putri Ibrahim and Nur Batrisya Hossen.
The five students who obtained 6As are Mohammad Khaliq Nadzmi Hamkar, Nur Syafiah Salma Bakerya, Odysha Holy Sendi Luto, Priscilla Elcy Gasan and Raymond Richard.
Bujang disclosed the school’s results for Science, Mathematics, Bahasa Melayu and Geography subjects improved too.
“For next year and subsequent years, we will try our best to improve in PT3. In view of this, we need very strong support from parents through the ParentTeacher Association and also from the school authority to ensure that our objectives or targets are fully met,” he said.
“We will hold parenting and counselling programmes to ensure that the relationships between parents and children are closer and also to ensure that parents are focussed on the development of their children’s education,” he added.
When contacted yesterday, State Education Department Director Rakayah Madon explained the department would not be issuing a statement on the overall performance of this year’s PT3 students from Sarawak as the PT3 result is school-based.
