The grants were presented by assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat at Hotel Meligai here in a ceremony that was witnessed by Kapit district officer Elvis Didit, PBB Bukit Goram secretary Edward Manggah, publicity officer Watson Awan, heads of departments and community leaders.

In his brief remark, Jamit told the recipients that the government was always sensitive to their needs and assistance would come their way as long as they worked closely with the government.

“Government assistance comes in many forms, for example MRP, e-kasih, grants for village roads, household assistance, housing assistance, school assistance, Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia ( BR1M), jetty, rural electricity and water supply to uplift the living standard of the rural people,” he said.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak might call any time.

He said they must support the incumbent and Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi as the MP for Kapit.

He warned that as usual just before the election, people from the opposition parties or individuals would be moving around to spread all sorts of false accusations against the ruling government to fish for votes.

Therefore, he urged the people to ignore them and remain firm with Barisan Nasional.

“Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi since he was elected the member of Parliament for Kapit has done a lot to help the people, in particular implementing various infrastructure and amenity projects to upgrade the standard of living in the rural longhouses and villages.

“Over the past five years, many mega projects are ongoing like the Jalan Kapit- Song- Kanowit for example. We need Nanta to continue to lead us for more development in order to be on par with developed urban centres.

“I appeal to all voters in Kapit to throw their full support to Nanta to ensure he wins with a big majority to send a clear message to the government that we need Nanta to lead us into the future to open up our land for development,” exhorted Jamit
